Project Controllers (Project Planning / Project Controls)
Location: Stevenage (hybrid, typically 2 to 3 days per week on-site due to workload classification)
Security clearance: British Citizen or dual UK national with British citizenship (BPSS required after offer)
A leading organisation in the defence sector is growing its Project Control function and is looking for motivated Project Planners and Project Controllers to join a collaborative, supportive team. Multiple levels are available, so we are open to candidates with varying depth of experience across planning and project controls.
Restrictions and/or limitations relating to nationality and/or rights to work may apply. As a minimum, after offer stage all successful candidates will need to undergo HMG Basic Personnel Security Standard checks (BPSS).
The opportunity
You'll support delivery across complex programmes, owning the quality of project controls data and helping teams understand performance, risk and corrective actions.
Key areas you will work on include:
Project health: validating project assessments, surfacing issues and risks for discussion with delivery teams
Schedule assessment: validating project schedules for accuracy and coherence, aligned to planning principles
Integrated baseline management: leading creation of integrated baseline schedules to support programme delivery
Costs to go and EAC: validating costs to go, challenging outliers and supporting accurate EAC reporting
Risk and opportunity management: leading schedule risk analysis where appropriate
New business support: contributing to bid activity, ensuring sound project management fundamentals are applied
What we're looking for
Planning experience from detailed plans through to milestone delivery plans
Ability to create and maintain project structures (WBS/CBS/OBS)
Experience generating and analysing performance data across schedule, resource and cost
Capability in SRA, critical path analysis and earned value management (EVM)
Comfortable identifying root cause and proposing corrective actions
Experience with project toolsets such as SAP, ARM, Primavera, Oracle Unifier
Understanding of baseline management and change control
Strong ownership of data quality and reporting outputs
Confident communicator who can influence and work within multi-functional teams
Able to prioritise workload across competing demands
Understanding of resource-loaded schedulesDesirable:
Experience supporting Estimate at Completion / Forecast Cost at Completion reviews
