How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Qualified Supply Teacher
    Academics are recruiting Qualified Teachers to support our partner schools across Berkhamsted and the surrounding areas on a temporary supply basis.

    We work with a wide range of Primary, Secondary and SEN schools, offering flexible opportunities to suit your availability. Whether you're an experienced teacher or an Early Career Teacher (ECT), supply teaching is a fantastic way to gain experience, enjoy a better work-life balance and make a positive impact in local schools.

    As a Supply Teacher, you will:

    Deliver engaging, high-quality lessons across your specialist phase or subject.
    Adapt quickly to different school environments, building positive relationships with pupils and staff.
    Follow school policies, lesson plans and behaviour management procedures to ensure continuity of learning.
    Create a positive, inclusive and supportive learning environment where all pupils can succeed.
    Maintain effective classroom management and high teaching standards.
    Provide cover for planned and unplanned staff absences across Primary, Secondary or SEN settings.
    Be confident adapting lessons or delivering pre-prepared work when required.

    We're looking for teachers who:

    Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
    Have experience teaching within Primary, Secondary or SEN settings.
    Are passionate about delivering high-quality education and supporting pupil progress.
    Demonstrate excellent classroom management and communication skills.
    Are reliable, adaptable and professional.
    Hold an Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service or are willing to obtain one.Location
    Our office is based in Berkhamsted, and we support schools throughout the local area, including nearby towns and villages. Access to your own transport is beneficial but not essential.
