How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Your new company

A national public sector organisation is seeking a junior paralegal to join its in-house legal team on a 6-9 month fixed-term contract, supporting with enforcement and litigation matters. The organisation plays an important regulatory role and operates across England, supporting high-profile regulatory, enforcement and appeals activity. The legal team provides specialist advice on public law matters and works closely with a range of internal stakeholders to support the organisation's statutory functions.

    Your new role

Based in London or Birmingham, you will join a busy in-house legal team, providing dedicated support to lawyers working on enforcement, appeals and litigation matters. This is primarily a business-as-usual role and offers an excellent opportunity for a junior legal professional to gain exposure to an experienced legal function.

    You will be responsible for:

Preparing and managing tribunal and court bundles
Reviewing enforcement, litigation and appeal documentation, and drafting correspondence and legal documents
Managing legal queries and supporting shared inboxes
Taking notes at meetings and assisting with case management activities
Processing invoices and supporting legal administrative processes
This role combines legal support and administrative responsibilities and would suit an organised individual looking to develop practical experience within an in-house legal environment. It may provide opportunities to undertake work that could contribute towards Qualifying Work Experience, although it is not a formal QWE position.

    What you'll need to succeed

You'll have a Law Degree or equivalent legal qualification, or be able to demonstrate relevant legal experience. Previous paralegal experience would be beneficial but is not essential.

The team is primarily looking for:

    Intelligence and good academics
    Excellent organisational and administrative skills
    Strong attention to detail
    Good legal research capabilities
    A proactive and collaborative approach
An interest in public law, litigation or regulatory work
Knowledge of court and tribunal procedures would be advantageous.

    What you'll get in return

Prorated salary of £34,652 (London) or £31,183 (National)
    6-9 month fixed-term contract
Hybrid working with 3 days per week in the office
Exposure to litigation, enforcement and appeals work within an established legal team
The opportunity to develop legal and professional skills while working on matters of public importance
