How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

Every product leaving the factory carries the company's reputation with it. As Technical & Quality Manager, you'll be the person ensuring every spice blend, stuffing mix and speciality product meets the highest standards of food safety, quality and compliance while helping protect a brand that has been delighting home cooks and professional chefs for decades.

Shropshire Spice is an established artisan food manufacturer with roots stretching back to the 1970s. Still proudly based in the beautiful South Shropshire countryside, the business develops its own recipes and has built a loyal following through its premium stuffing range, gluten-free spice blends, gourmet dips and speciality food products. It's a business that values craftsmanship, innovation and quality over volume, giving you the opportunity to have a genuine influence on how technical standards continue to evolve.

    What's in it for you

Flexible working hours to support a healthy work-life balance.
Hybrid working available where business needs allow.
Autonomy to lead the entire function.
Direct access to business owners with the opportunity to influence decisions.
Work within a respected artisan food manufacturer producing premium products.
Beautiful rural South Shropshire location with a supportive, close-knit team.

Your responsibilities as Technical & Quality Manager at Shropshire Spice

Lead and continuously improve the Food Safety & Quality Management System.
Prepare for and manage BRCGS and customer audits.
Maintain HACCP, traceability, supplier approval and compliance systems.
Oversee technical documentation, specifications and product records.
Investigate customer complaints, non-conformances and implement corrective actions.
Work closely with production, suppliers, laboratories and customers to maintain exceptional quality standards.

What we're looking for in a Technical & Quality Manager

Background in a technical or quality role within food manufacturing.
Strong knowledge of BRCGS, HACCP and UK food safety legislation.
Experience preparing for external audits and maintaining compliance systems.
Ability to manage technical documentation, specifications and quality records.
Knowledge of allergen management, food labelling and supplier approval processes.

Working hours: Flexible working hours with hybrid working available where business needs allow.

If you're looking for a role where your expertise will shape the future of a well-established artisan food manufacturer, we'd love to hear from you about this Technical & Quality Manager opportunity.

Due to the anticipated volume of applications, we regret that we are only able to contact candidates selected for interview. If you do not hear from us within two weeks of the closing date, please assume your application has not been successful and that your details have not been retained
