How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Meridian are looking for a Lab Technician for a major client of ours, initially on a 3 month role but with an option to be extended for a further 3 months, and could become permanent

    Position Summary
    Main job functions
     
    Testing and reporting of hose carcass adhesion, incoming goods, rubber compounds and PU. 
     
    Principle Accountabilities
    Duties, Responsibilities and Key Tasks

    In a timely manner prepare, test (sometimes witnessed by outside inspection) and report carcass adhesions to quality standards for production hoses to certify products. 
     
    Test and report PU hose covers and sample, mould, and test rubber compounds to the required standard.
     
    Sample, test and label incoming goods and overage materials. Maintain efficient paper and electronic filing.

    Perform cord extraction from solvent-soaked serviced hoses and to test.
     
    Sample, test, and adjust concentration levels of wash reagents from the P3 fittings tanks. 
     
    Assist in training new staff and assist internal departments with their enquiries.
     
    Carry out internal calibration checks on laboratory instrumentation.
     
    Learn and follow the safety requirements in relation to your job. Work in a safe manner at all times and report incidents.
     
    Good housekeeping.
     
    Carry out the job requirements in full compliance with the Code of Conduct.
     
    Support and demonstrate the '4 Values' and associated 'behaviours' in carrying out your duties and responsibilities.
     
    Employees are required to take reasonable care of themselves and other persons which may be affected by their acts of omissions, furthermore employees must cooperate with management and not interfere or misuse anything provided in the interest of health and safety. Employees must actively engage in the incident reporting system and highlight any shortcomings in the arrangements for health and safety and report any serious or immediate danger.

    Experience Required

    Laboratory and Materials experience. 

    Knowledge Required

    Good knowledge of:
    •        chemistry or materials science
    •        the functions of a laboratory
    •        laboratory techniques
    •        laboratory equipment
    •        testing methods

    Qualifications / Skills Required
     
     ‘A’ level or equivalent in Science, Materials or Engineering. 
     
    Laboratory and IT skills.
     
    Good communication (verbal and written) with inspectors and internal departments.
     
    Self-motivated.
     
    Well organised to meet changing priorities
