How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

This is an opportunity to join a highly respected specialist setting supporting children and young people with a diverse range of learning, physical, sensory and medical needs. The school is committed to providing a personalised and engaging education that enables pupils to develop communication, independence and life skills in a safe and nurturing environment.

This is a highly rewarding role that combines learning support with complex care responsibilities. You will work alongside teachers, therapists and specialist support staff to help pupils access their education while ensuring their physical, medical and emotional needs are met.

Many pupils require significant adult support throughout the day, and the successful candidate must be comfortable providing practical assistance in a respectful and dignified manner. Building positive relationships with pupils and understanding their individual communication methods will be a key part of the role.

    Key Responsibilities

    - Support pupils with PMLD and complex learning needs within the classroom and around the school
    - Assist with personal care while promoting dignity, privacy and independence
    - Support pupils with feeding programmes, including PEG feeding where required and following appropriate training
    - Assist with moving and handling procedures using specialist equipment
    - Support pupils who require hoisting, positioning and mobility assistance
    - Deliver sensory learning activities under the guidance of teaching and therapy staff
    - Help pupils access communication systems and personalised learning activities
    - Monitor pupil wellbeing and report concerns appropriately
    - Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists and healthcare professionals
    - Contribute to a safe, positive and inclusive school environment

We welcome applications from candidates with backgrounds in:

    - SEN education
    - Care or support work
    - Residential care
    - Healthcare assistance
    - Nursing
    - Complex needs support
    - Disability services

Previous experience supporting individuals with PMLD, physical disabilities or complex medical needs is highly desirable. School-based experience is beneficial, but candidates from healthcare and care settings who have transferable skills are also encouraged to apply.

    The Ideal Candidate Will Be

    - Compassionate and patient
    - Comfortable supporting pupils with high levels of need
    - Confident following care plans and medical guidance
    - Professional when providing personal care
    - Reliable and adaptable
    - A strong communicator and team player
    - Passionate about supporting children and young people with SEND

    Essential Requirements

    - Full-time availability, Monday to Friday
    - Eligible to work in the UK
    - Ability to communicate fluently in English
    - Willingness to complete safeguarding and pre-employment checks
    - A genuine commitment to supporting pupils with complex needs

    What Aspire People Offers

    - Weekly pay ranging from £463 to £575, depending on experience
    - A long-term opportunity within a specialist SEN setting
    - Ongoing support from an experienced education consultant
    - Access to SEND-focused training and development
    - The chance to make a meaningful impact on the lives of pupils with complex needs

If you have experience in SEN, healthcare, nursing or care and are looking for a rewarding full-time role in Rochdale, we would love to hear from you. Apply today and a member of the Aspire People team will be in touch to discuss the opportunity in more detail.
