How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

This school offers a tailored education for up to 80 pupils aged 5–19 with ASC and SEMH needs. Many of our students benefit from specialist support with speech, language, and communication. This role is central to this position.

    The Role

We are looking for a Qualified Speech and Language Therapist to develop and deliver our school‑based SaLT provision.

This is a varied and rewarding role combining direct clinical work, staff support, and service development within a highly collaborative MDT consisting of a Clinical Psychologist, Occupational Therapist, 2 Assistant Psychologists, 2 Therapy Assistants, and SENDCo.

You will work closely with our Clinical Lead, SENDCo and wider team to create a communication‑friendly environment and ensure pupils can fully access learning, within a school culture where Speech and Language Therapy is highly valued and actively embedded in everyday practice.

You will build on existing SaLT provision within the school, taking a lead role in shaping and developing the service over time. You will be supported by a therapy assistant, and will work within a tiered model of support (universal, targeted, specialist) to ensure sustainable and effective provision across the school.

    Your responsibilities will include:

    * Carry out specialist assessments and contribute to EHCP advice and annual reviews, using clinical reasoning to identify communication needs and appropriate provision

    * Plan, implement and evaluate targeted and specialist interventions, delivered both directly and indirectly through teaching staff and the therapy assistant

    * Manage and prioritise a small caseload of pupils with communication needs.

    * Support teaching staff and TAs through training, modelling and consultation to embed communication strategies in everyday practice

    * Contribute to the development of a communication‑supportive school environment across classrooms and routines

    * Work collaboratively with the MDT to support pupils' engagement, regulation and access to learning

    * Provide direction, delegation and clinical oversight to the therapy assistant and support staff implementing programmes

    * Maintain accurate clinical records and contribute to outcome monitoring

    * Actively engage in supervision, training and CPD to develop clinical skills

We are looking for someone who is:

    * Confident working independently within a supportive team

    * Able to prioritise and manage workload effectively

    * Skilled in building strong relationships with staff and pupils

    * Passionate about functional, real‑world communication outcomes

This role is ideal for someone with a nurturing approach. If you're enthusiastic about making a real difference to children, and young people, we'd love to hear from you.

    Essential Criteria:

    * You will be a registered member of RCSLT and HCPC

    * Hold a professional Speech and Language Therapy degree or equivalent.

    * Experience working with children or young people with additional needs

    * Ability to work independently within a supportive MDT

    * Completed SALT NPQ Status

    Desirable Criteria:

    * Experience in a school or SEND setting

    * Experience supporting autism and SEMH

    * Experience delivering staff training or consultation

    What's on offer?

    * A school culture where Speech and Language Therapy is valued and embedded, with staff actively engaging with and implementing SLT strategies across the setting, as demonstrated by our commitment to Elkan and making our school communication friendly.

    * A supportive MDT including Clinical Lead (Clinical Psychologist), OT, assistants, Elkan trained staff and SENDCo

    * Support from a full time Therapy Assistant

    * Access to regular SaLT clinical supervision

    * Regular online company‑wide peer supervision with other Speech and Language Therapists

    * Opportunity to shape and develop the role

    * Term‑time working for work‑life balance

    * A beautiful setting in which to work, with dedicated therapy rooms and spaces.
