How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Academics is recruiting an enthusiastic and compassionate SEN Secondary Teacher to join a well-established specialist school in Bedford. This long-term opportunity is ideal for a teacher who is passionate about supporting young people with additional needs and making a lasting impact in a specialist education setting.

    The school supports secondary-aged pupils with a range of additional needs, including Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD), Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD), Speech, Language and Communication Needs (SLCN), and pupils who may display traits of challenging behaviour. Class sizes are small, allowing staff to provide personalised learning and meaningful support to every learner.

    The Role

    As an SEN Secondary Teacher, you will:

    Deliver engaging and differentiated lessons tailored to individual learning needs.
    Create a positive, structured and nurturing classroom environment.
    Support pupils to achieve both academically and personally.
    Work collaboratively with teaching assistants, therapists and the wider leadership team.
    Develop strong relationships with pupils, parents and professionals to ensure the best outcomes.The Ideal Candidate

    Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
    Experience working with pupils with SEN, either in specialist or mainstream settings.
    Excellent behaviour management and communication skills.
