How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    A Local Authority in Lancashire is seeking an experienced Senior Engineer to join its Engineering Team on an initial 6 month contract. This opportunity has arisen due to a long-term absence, with a strong likelihood of extension based on ongoing project demands.

    The role is offering exposure to a broad portfolio of civil engineering projects rather than a narrow specialist focus.

    The Role

    You will play a key role in the delivery of a range of engineering schemes across the borough, managing projects through various stages from design and feasibility through to construction and completion.

    The successful candidate will be involved in project management, design coordination, site inspections, contractor liaison, and the successful delivery of infrastructure improvements.

    Typical Project Work

    * Public realm improvement schemes

    * Highways infrastructure projects

    * Environmental enhancement initiatives

    * Car park development and improvement works

    * Footpath and recreational infrastructure schemes

    * Town centre regeneration projects

    About You

    To be considered, you will have:

    * A broad civil engineering background

    * Experience working on highways and infrastructure projects

    * Proven experience delivering schemes from design through to construction

    * The ability to undertake site visits and inspections

    * Strong project management skills and the ability to manage multiple live projects simultaneously

    Desirable Experience

    Experience in one or more of the following areas would be advantageous:

    * Public realm projects

    * Car park design and construction

    * Footpaths, Public Rights of Way (PROW) or recreational infrastructure

    * Environmental improvement schemes

    * Local Authority engineering projects

    What's on Offer?

    * Hybrid working arrangement

    * Diverse and interesting project workload

    * Strong pipeline of upcoming schemes

    * Opportunity to utilise your experience across multiple disciplines

    * Potential extension beyond the initial contract term

    The authority is looking to make an appointment as soon as possible and is open to discussing working arrangements with the right candidate
