How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    As a Class 1 HGV Driver, you will be an ambassador for Thames Water out on the road, where you will ensure that our values are upheld, and you will be driven to provide first-class customer service – you will truly be the face of Thames Water.

    You will work as part of the Logistics Delivery team, which operates a fleet of Potable Water Tankers to support both reactive and planned work. You will be joining a team that carries out the essential delivery of water to our customers. Within this team, you will learn how to take water samples before loading and discharging them into hydrants or reservoirs.

    This role consists of being able to follow processes and procedures. You will be expected to drive both HGV 1 and HGV 2 vehicles, which have manual and automatic gearboxes, plus various support vehicles such as Welfare vans.

    HGV Class 1 Driver Job Details

    This position is based at Basingstoke STW.
    Full training and an excellent wider benefits package.Shift Pattern available:

    38.5 hours per week - 4 on, 4 off (Days & Nights) - £42,435 per annum
    38.5 hours per week - 4 on, 4 off (Monday to Sunday Day shifts) - £37,337 per annum
    What should you bring to the role?

    Experience as a Class 1 HGV Driver.
    Happy working on a rotational shift pattern, including days and nights.
    No more than 6 penalty points and no DR or IN convictions on your licence.
    A full driver CPC and a valid Driver Tachograph card.
    Demonstrate a clear knowledge of Transport Law and the Road Traffic Act.
    Have a working knowledge of Drivers' Hours rules and Working Time regulations.
