How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Role: Commercial Manager

    Location: Northern Home Counties

    The Opportunity

    A well-established main contractor is seeking an experienced Commercial Manager to join their commercial team on a major civils project in the Northern Home Counties.

    The project is currently in the enabling works phase and will form part of a much larger long-term infrastructure and construction programme, with main construction works due to commence next year.

    This is an excellent opportunity to join a highly respected contractor with a strong pipeline of secured work, an excellent reputation within the industry, and a well-established commercial team with excellent staff retention. The successful candidate will play a key role in the commercial delivery of a complex, high-value project while benefiting from genuine long-term career progression.

    Key Responsibilities

    -Commercial management of major civils and infrastructure packages

    -Procurement and management of subcontract accounts

    -Cost reporting, forecasting and valuations

    -Variations and change management

    -Contract administration and commercial governance

    -Client and subcontractor relationship management

    -Supporting the successful commercial delivery of the project through all phases

    -Management and mentoring of junior commercial staff where appropriate

    Requirements

    -Proven experience as a Commercial Manager

    -Strong NEC contract experience is essential

    -Previous experience delivering major civils, infrastructure or construction projects

    -Extensive subcontract procurement and package management experience

    -Excellent commercial awareness and communication skills

    -Strong leadership and team management experience

    -Experience working within complex or live operational environments would be advantageous

    The client is primarily seeking individuals with extensive NEC experience and a proven track record of successfully delivering major civils projects within complex environments.
