How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

A well-established property and construction consultancy in Cambridge is looking for an Employer's Agent to join its growing team. This is an excellent opportunity for an Employer's Agent with strong Contract Administration experience to work across a varied portfolio of residential and wider development projects.

The Employer's Agent will manage projects from pre-contract stages through to completion, working closely with clients, consultants, developers, and contractors. This Employer's Agent role would suit a confident Employer's Agent who understands contractual procedures, can manage project risk, and is comfortable leading meetings and advising clients throughout the construction process. The successful Employer's Agent will take ownership of commissions while working alongside experienced senior colleagues.

You must have prior construction consultancy experience to be considered for this role.

    The Employer's Agent's role

The Employer's Agent will act as the client's representative on design and build projects, supporting schemes from procurement and contract preparation through to handover and close-out.

The Employer's Agent will be responsible for administering building contracts, issuing instructions, assessing extensions of time, managing change control, monitoring contractor performance, and coordinating multidisciplinary consultant teams.

The Employer's Agent will also chair progress meetings, prepare client reports, monitor programme and risk, review payment recommendations, manage practical completion, and oversee the resolution of defects. Strong Contract Administration experience is essential, as the Employer's Agent will need to provide clear and accurate contractual advice throughout each project.

    The Employer's Agent

The successful Employer's Agent will have:

Prior experience working within a construction consultancy
    Strong Contract Administration experience
Experience acting as an Employer's Agent on design and build projects
Good knowledge of JCT Design and Build contracts
Experience managing projects through pre-contract and post-contract stages
A degree in Building Surveying, Quantity Surveying, Project Management, Construction Management, or a related discipline
MRICS, MCIOB, MAPM, or progress towards a relevant professional qualification
Strong client-facing, communication, and report-writing skills
The ability to manage consultants, contractors, and project stakeholders
A commercially aware and organised approach

    In Return?

    £50,000 - £58,000
    Pension contribution
    Professional membership support
    APC and chartership support
    Varied project exposure
    Independent project responsibility
    Clear career progression
