How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

Join UK Power Networks as a Quantity Surveyor in London with a competitive salary of £68,144 plus 3% bonus and London Weighting and use your commercial expertise to help deliver the capital projects that keep London connected.

Reporting to a Senior Quantity Surveyor or Commercial Lead, you will manage high-value construction contracts across the London Power Networks portfolio within a collaborative Capital Programme team.

You will provide professional quantity surveying support across long-term Capital Programme and Procurement Delivery contracts, acting as commercial lead or supporting larger projects. Working with programme, project, design, planning, consents and administrative colleagues, you will manage contract set-up, pricing, delivery, scope change, compliance and disputes while ensuring projects meet contractual and reporting requirements.

Your duties will include reviewing contractor ADP and tender submissions, tender documentation, activity schedules and presentations; attending interviews; completing tender analysis and fixed-rate comparisons; and managing your commercial workload. You will assess applications, Early Warning Notices and Compensation Events, raise payment recommendations and certificates, prepare correspondence and update project risk registers to ensure only legitimate costs are certified.

Using Unifier and linked cost-reporting systems, you will agree or reject CENs, agree CEQs and maintain Work Order Tracker dashboards. You will manage risks and opportunities, maintain potential-cost schedules, advise colleagues on NEC3 and bespoke contracts, support purchase-order increases and governance documents, contribute to annual rate reviews, review subcontract compliance and ensure change-control procedures are followed.

You will resolve contractual issues with commercial and project colleagues, prepare dispute documentation, recommend proportionate resolution strategies and work with legal advisers where required. You will also follow company procedures, report non-conformance, produce high-quality reports, challenge decisions appropriately, maintain effective partner relationships and support junior colleagues.

You will be degree-qualified in quantity surveying or a relevant business discipline, with experience managing complex, high-value and varied contracts and practical knowledge of NEC conditions.

Apply by 2 August 2026 and use your commercial judgement to help deliver safe, compliant and successful construction projects across London
