How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Senior Information and Records Manager
    Location: Bristol, Swansea, Leeds, Nottingham, Newcastle, Oldham (Chadderton), Birmingham(Garretts Green) or Uxbridge.
    Salary: £44,241 per annum

As part of this role, you will support the effective management of information and records throughout their lifecycle, ensuring they are secure, accessible, easy to find, and appropriately disposed of when no longer needed.
    You'll work with colleagues across a range of business areas, providing advice and support to help them manage information effectively for operational activities and projects. Your work will contribute to improving efficiency, supporting compliance, and enabling better decision-making across DVSA.

    Job description
    The postholder will work with colleagues and business units across DVSA, providing advice and guidance so that colleagues are confident to manage information in a way that complies with legislation, DVSA policy and good practice.
    Your responsibilities will include, but aren’t limited to:
    * Develop and manage processes to support collaborative working in the Agency’s chosen systems for information and knowledge exchange (MS365 tools including Team, SharePoint and OneDrive)
    * Provide a good quality records management service for the Traffic Commissioners, liaising closely with the Office of the Traffic Commissioners to understand their needs.
    * Lead and manage a diverse team, supporting their continuing professional and personal development, to ensure that they have the skills and knowledge to provide a good quality records management service. Be responsible for wellbeing within the team.
    * Lead involvement in any DVSA projects for records management practices, including writing business cases to seek resources
    * Identify, record and manage risks relating to records management to support the Senior Information Risk Owner.
    * Lead on the development and maintenance of records management policies and procedure documents,

    Person specification
    To be successful in this role you will need to have the following experience:
    * Experience of providing clear guidance to people
    * Experience of building and managing good quality relationships
    * Experience of working with collaboration tools (e.g. Microsoft SharePoint, Teams, OneDrive; Google Workspace)
    Additional Information
    A recognised qualification in records management or information management or a related discipline, or a willingness to work towards such qualifications when in post.
    Working hours, office attendance and travel requirements
    Full time roles consist of 37 hours per week.
    Whilst we welcome applications from those looking to work with us on a part time basis, there is a business requirement for the successful candidate to be able to work at least 30 hours per week.
