How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Senior Specialist Occupational Therapist

    Location: West Heath House, Birmingham
    Salary: £49,387 - £56,515 per annum DOE
    Hours: 35 hours per week

    We're looking for a passionate and experienced Senior Specialist Occupational Therapist to join our multidisciplinary team at West Heath House, Birmingham.

    West Heath House supports adults living with the cognitive, physical and emotional effects of severe acquired brain injury. Through a specialist neurobehavioural approach, we help individuals develop greater independence, rebuild skills and achieve meaningful personal goals while promoting dignity, choice and quality of life.

    About the Role

    As a Senior Specialist Occupational Therapist, you will lead Occupational Therapy provision within the service and play a key role in delivering specialist neurological rehabilitation. Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, you will manage a complex caseload and provide evidence-based interventions that support service users to maximise their independence and participation in everyday life.

    Key responsibilities include:

    * Providing specialist Occupational Therapy assessment, treatment and rehabilitation for adults with acquired brain injuries

    * Managing and prioritising a complex caseload of service users with cognitive, physical and behavioural needs

    * Developing, implementing and evaluating individualised treatment programmes

    * Supporting service users to improve skills in self-care, education, productivity, leisure and community participation

    * Working closely with families, carers and external professionals to achieve the best outcomes

    * Leading Occupational Therapy practice within the service and contributing specialist expertise to the multidisciplinary team

    * Supporting and guiding rehabilitation support workers and therapy assistants

    * Monitoring progress, analysing outcomes and adapting interventions where required

    * Promoting person-centred, evidence-based practice aligned to the Brainkind Neurobehavioural Model

    About You

    To be successful in this role, you will have:

    * Degree or Diploma in Occupational Therapy

    * Current HCPC registration

    * Specialist knowledge of Occupational Therapy interventions in acquired brain injury and neurological rehabilitation

    * Experience working with individuals with acquired brain injuries or neurological conditions

    * Minimum of 4 years post-registration experience, including at least 2 years working with neurological conditions

    * Excellent clinical reasoning, assessment and problem-solving skills

    * Strong communication and relationship-building abilities

    * Ability to work autonomously and manage a complex caseload

    * Valid UK driving licence and willingness to drive service users in unit vehicles
