How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

Due to continued growth and a strong project pipeline, they are looking to appoint an experienced Principal Mechanical Design Engineer to join their engineering team.

This is an excellent opportunity for a senior design engineer who is passionate about engineering excellence, enjoys leading technical projects, and has extensive experience using Autodesk Inventor.

    The Role

Reporting to the Engineering Manager, you will take ownership of the mechanical design of complex products from concept through to manufacture. As a technical leader within the business, you'll provide guidance to other engineers while ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest engineering standards.

    Key Responsibilities

    *

Lead the design and development of complex mechanical systems and products using Autodesk Inventor.

    *

Produce detailed 3D models, manufacturing drawings and engineering documentation.

    *

Manage projects through the full product lifecycle, from concept and design through to manufacture and testing.

    *

Conduct design reviews, engineering calculations and tolerance analysis.

    *

Work closely with manufacturing, production, procurement and quality teams to ensure designs are optimised for manufacture.

    *

Mentor and support junior members of the design team.

    *

Liaise with customers and suppliers to resolve technical challenges and deliver successful project outcomes.

    *

Ensure compliance with relevant engineering standards and industry regulations.

    *

Identify opportunities for continuous improvement within engineering processes and product design.

    The Candidate

The successful candidate will be a highly experienced Mechanical Design Engineer with a proven track record of delivering complex engineering projects.

    You will have:

    *

A degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.

    *

Significant experience in a senior mechanical design role within a manufacturing or engineering environment.

    *

    Advanced proficiency with Autodesk Inventor.

    *

Strong knowledge of machining, fabrication, sheet metal and assembly processes.

    *

Experience producing detailed manufacturing drawings to recognised engineering standards.

    *

A solid understanding of GD&T and Design for Manufacture (DFM).

    *

Previous experience leading projects and providing technical guidance to engineering teams.

    *

    Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.

    Desirable

    *

Experience with Autodesk Vault or other PDM systems.

    *

    FEA and engineering simulation experience.

    *

Experience working within highly regulated sectors such as aerospace, defence, nuclear, automotive or special purpose machinery.

    *

Chartered Engineer (CEng) status, or working towards it.

    What's on Offer

My client offers an excellent working environment where engineers are encouraged to innovate, develop and progress their careers. Alongside a competitive salary, you'll benefit from an attractive package that includes:
