How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Located in either the London or Edinburgh office, the Payroll and Systems Manager will oversee and manage all aspects of payroll operations and ensure the smooth integration and functionality of the Zellis payroll system.

    A national public sector organisation with offices based in London and Edinburgh.

    Description

    Reporting to the Head of HR, the Payroll and Systems Manager will be responsible for:

    Producing and reviewing end-to-end payroll to ensure accuracy and compliance with regulations.
    Research and verify data in respect of pension queries.
    Manage the administration of the benefits schemes currently in place, including cycle to work, discount vouchers, season ticket loans, etc
    Leading on the interface with pension and benefit providers.
    Supporting financial modelling, forecasting and preparation of the annual pay remit submission.
    Act as the subject matter expert in using reporting from the HR system in order to produce reports (e.g. headcount, holidays, absence, Gender Pay Gap, etc).
    Line management of 1 staff member (HR Officer)

    Profile

    The successful Payroll and Systems Manager will need substantial and proven end-to-end payroll experience with a full understanding of PAYE legislation.

    You will also need to be a confident user of payroll and HR systems. Any knowledge of Zeliis would be advantageous.

    Previous public sector/civil service knowledge is desirable.

    Job Offer

    A salary range: £38,858 - £47,492 per annum for this HEO level position, plus a discretionary bonus and the opportunity to join the Civil Service Pension scheme.

    This role is a hybrid position based in either London or Edinburgh. You will be expected to attend the office 60% of the time
