How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Owen Daniels are supporting a well-established and growing manufacturing business based in Walsall, is looking to recruit an experienced Buyer to join their procurement team on a permanent basis.

    This is an excellent opportunity for a Buyer with a manufacturing background who enjoys building supplier relationships, negotiating costs, and ensuring materials are available to support production. Experience within the electronics sector would be highly advantageous, although candidates from other manufacturing environments will also be considered.

    The RoleReporting to the Procurement Manager, you will be responsible for sourcing materials and components, managing supplier performance, and ensuring stock is available to meet production schedules.

    Key Responsibilities

    Procuring raw materials, components and services in line with production requirements.
    Raising and managing purchase orders through the ERP/MRP system.
    Negotiating pricing, lead times and commercial terms with suppliers.
    Building and maintaining strong supplier relationships.
    Monitoring supplier performance relating to quality, cost and delivery.
    Working closely with Production, Planning and Engineering teams to ensure material availability.
    Identifying cost-saving opportunities and supporting continuous improvement initiatives.
    Resolving supply chain issues to minimise disruption to manufacturing operations.
    Maintaining accurate purchasing records and supplier information.The CandidateThe successful candidate will have:

    Previous experience working as a Buyer within a manufacturing environment.
    Electronics manufacturing or electronic components purchasing experience would be highly desirable.
    Strong negotiation and supplier management skills.
    Experience using MRP/ERP systems.
    Excellent communication and organisational skills.
    A proactive approach with strong commercial awareness.

    Salary up to £37,000 depending on experience.
    Permanent, full-time position.
