How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Our tier 1 Water Civils contractor is seeking a Project Manager to support Water Civils projects in Stoke on Trent on a permanent basis.

    Projects are infrastructure focused including stormwater overflow and aimed at improving local water quality.

    Our client is a leading infrastructure and environmental engineering specialist, delivering complex projects across the water, transport, built environment, and energy sectors. With a strong reputation for safety, quality, and innovation, they work collaboratively with clients to deliver sustainable solutions that improve communities and essential infrastructure.

    The successful candidate will take full responsibility for the planning, execution, and successful delivery of civil engineering and infrastructure projects, ensuring they are completed safely, on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.

    Responsibilities

    Lead the delivery of multiple civil engineering and infrastructure projects from inception through to completion.
    Ensure projects are delivered in accordance with contractual requirements, programme targets, and client expectations.
    Manage project budgets, forecasts, costs, and commercial performance.
    Develop and maintain project programmes, monitoring progress and implementing corrective actions where necessary.
    Foster strong relationships with clients, stakeholders, subcontractors, and suppliers.
    Ensure compliance with all relevant health, safety, environmental, and quality standards.
    Lead project teams, including engineers, site managers, supervisors, and subcontractors.
    Identify and manage project risks and opportunities.
    Prepare and present regular project progress reports to senior management and clients.
    Support the procurement and management of subcontractors and supply chain partners.
    Drive continuous improvement initiatives and promote best practice across projects.
    Ensure all project documentation, records, and reporting requirements are maintained accurately.Skills/experience/qualifications

    Proven experience as a Project Manager within civil engineering, utilities, water, infrastructure, or construction sectors.
    Strong understanding of project management principles and techniques.
    Experience managing budgets, programmes, contracts, and project resources.
    Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
    Knowledge of NEC contracts and commercial management principles.
    Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
    Full UK Driving Licence.
    Proficient in Microsoft Office and project management software.Degree, HNC, or HND in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related discipline.

    Project Management qualification (APM, PRINCE2, or equivalent).
    SMSTS certification.
    CSCS card.
    Membership of a relevant professional body (ICE, APM, CIOB, etc.).
    Experience working within the UK water sector or major infrastructure frameworks.
