How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Senior Electrical Design Engineer
    £55-70k + benefits
    Stoke-on-Trent area, Staffordshire - 5 days onsite

This role is open to a senior engineer looking to progress or principal engineer, hence the broad salary range. The upper end would be principal.
    Background: Senior Electrical Design Engineer

This role involves technically leading a small team of electrical engineers working on the design and development of electrical distribution systems for complex agricultural machines / vehicles.
In this role you will become the technical authority for a range of products, owning electrical schematic and harness design and delivery for the machines.
You will mentor, lead and develop the team and contribute to next generation products, implementing new ideas and technologies. The ideal candidate will be a senior electrical design engineer or principal engineer with excellent electrical engineering competence within electrical schematic and harness design of low voltage DC systems (e.g. 12v or 24v). In addition, team and project leading experience would be preferred.
The company manufactures a range of complex, high value agricultural vehicles incorporating a broad array of electronic sensors, hydraulics, pneumatics, and intelligent capabilities. Candidates that have worked on the design of agricultural machinery design would be preferred, although other products can be considered.

Skills / Experience required: Senior Electrical Design Engineer

A good degree in a relevant subject (e.g. electrical engineering, mechatronics engineering)
At least 5 years of relevant experience in the design of electrical schematics and harnesses for low voltage DC systems (e.g. 12v, 24v)
Experience in the design of electrical distribution systems for agricultural machines, construction machinery, automotive systems, or perhaps aerospace or other off-highway vehicles (e.g. military vehicles).
Hands-on experience of 2D and 3D CAD for electrical schematic and harness design
Experience of electrical architecture, electrical load calculations, and problem solving methods (8D, FMEA, etc)
Experience of high reliability design taking into consideration water ingress, vibration, heat, impact, etc.
Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a small team environment
NOTE: Experience of designing low voltage DC systems for vehicles is essential. Ideally, this would be off-highway systems (see above). This role is not suited to engineers that do not have strong electrical schematic design experience or the ability to design from first principals.

This senior electrical design / principal engineer role is based onsite near Stoke-on-Trent. Hybrid working is not supported. It is commutable from Rocester, Rugeley, Crewe, Stafford, Birmingham, Uttoxeter, Lichfield, Macclesfield and Uttoxeter
