How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    A leading multi-disciplinary construction consultancy is looking to add an Assistant Building Surveyor to its established London team.

    The successful Assistant Building Surveyor will join a supportive building surveying team with a strong pipeline of repeat client work, structured development and clear progression towards professional qualification.

    This is a role for an Assistant Building Surveyor who wants hands-on project exposure, regular site experience and the chance to develop across commercial and public sector portfolios.

    The Assistant Building Surveyor Role

    The Assistant Building Surveyor will support senior members of the team across a varied workload, assisting with building surveying instructions throughout the full project lifecycle.

    You will gain experience across surveys, reports, contract administration, party wall, dilapidations, design solutions and client framework work, while developing your technical knowledge within a collaborative consultancy environment.

    Duties of the Assistant Building Surveyor to include:

    Assist with building surveying work in line with statutory requirements
    Support senior surveyors acting as Contract Administrator
    Assist with measured surveys, condition surveys and access audits
    Contribute to design solutions and technical reports
    Support party wall, dilapidations and related instructions
    Monitor project financial performance using internal systems
    Assist with client workloads and framework agreements
    Support business development and identify new project opportunitiesThe Person?

    The successful Assistant Building Surveyor will have a genuine interest in building surveying and be looking to build a career within a construction consultancy.

    The Assistant Building Surveyor will ideally have:

    A BSc in Building Surveying, or be in the final year of study
    The ability to produce clear and accurate reports
    Working knowledge of Building Regulations and Planning legislation
    Strong communication skills
    A collaborative approach
    Ambition to progress towards professional qualificationApplications from non-construction-related building surveying backgrounds will not be considered.
