How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Regional Director - Infrastructure
    Leeds

Lead people. Drive technical excellence. Shape the future of a growing regional business.

An established engineering consultancy is looking to appoint a Regional Director to help lead and develop one of its key UK regions. This is an outstanding opportunity for an experienced senior leader who remains passionate about technical delivery, enjoys developing people and wants to play a genuine role in influencing the direction of a growing business.

Working alongside the Managing Director, you'll become a key figure within the leadership team, helping to shape regional strategy whilst ensuring projects continue to be delivered to the exceptionally high standards the business has become known for. This is not a purely commercial or sales-driven position. Instead, the role is ideally suited to someone who still enjoys solving engineering problems, supporting project teams and acting as the senior technical authority across a diverse portfolio of infrastructure schemes.

The consultancy delivers highways, drainage and development infrastructure solutions for a wide range of public and private sector clients, supporting projects from early feasibility and masterplanning through planning, detailed design, technical approvals and construction. Its reputation has been built on providing practical, commercially focused engineering advice whilst maintaining long-term relationships with both clients and employees alike.

As Regional Director, you'll provide leadership across a multidisciplinary team, supporting Technical Directors, Associate Directors and Project Managers to deliver high-quality engineering solutions. You'll oversee project performance, resource planning and quality assurance whilst working closely with clients to ensure schemes are delivered successfully, profitably and on programme.

A significant part of the role will involve developing people. You'll mentor senior engineers, identify future leaders, encourage professional development and help create an environment where collaboration, accountability and technical excellence are embedded throughout the business. You'll champion best practice, drive continuous improvement and work alongside the wider leadership team to ensure consistent standards are maintained across the region.

You'll also play an important part in the continued growth of the business, strengthening existing client relationships, identifying new opportunities with key accounts and contributing to the strategic direction of the region. Rather than focusing on business development targets alone, you'll be viewed as a trusted adviser whose technical credibility helps clients return time and again.

We're looking for an experienced Chartered Civil Engineer with an extensive background in development infrastructure, highways and drainage design. You'll have a proven track record of leading multidisciplinary engineering teams, delivering complex projects and building lasting client relationships. Equally important is your leadership style-we're looking for someone approachable, collaborative and commercially aware, who enjoys bringing out the best in people whilst remaining close enough to projects to provide meaningful technical guidance.

In return, you'll join a business that has successfully retained the collaborative, supportive culture of a specialist consultancy whilst continuing to invest in growth across the UK. You'll work alongside an ambitious Managing Director who values technical leadership and empowers people to influence how the business evolves, with genuine autonomy to make your mark on the region's future.

The package includes a very competitive salary, hybrid working, an excellent pension contribution, comprehensive benefits and the opportunity to play a pivotal role within an ambitious and expanding engineering consultancy where your leadership will genuinely shape the next chapter of its success.
