How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    A Chartered Commercial Building Surveyor is needed to join a value-led property and construction consultancy in Cambridge, delivering a broad mix of project and professional work across commercial, education, healthcare, defence, residential and local authority schemes.

    The successful Chartered Commercial Building Surveyor will join a people-focused, multi-disciplinary practice with a strong national presence, flexible working and genuine long-term progression.

    The Chartered Commercial Building Surveyor Role

    The Chartered Commercial Building Surveyor will deliver the full range of building surveying services, working closely with clients, contractors and internal design teams.

    The role will offer a varied workload across both public and private sector clients, with involvement in design, specification, contract administration, surveys, dilapidations and defect diagnosis.

    Duties of the Chartered Commercial Building Surveyor to include:

    Design and specification of works
    * Contract administration and clerk of works duties
    * Building surveys, condition surveys and dilapidations
    * Defect diagnosis and pre-acquisition surveys
    * Party wall matters and neighbourly issues
    * Prepare tender documentation and analyse returns
    * Advise clients across project and professional instructionsThe Person?

    The successful Chartered Commercial Building Surveyor will be commercially aware, technically capable and comfortable managing a varied workload within a collaborative consultancy environment.

    The Chartered Commercial Building Surveyor will ideally have:

    A degree in Building Surveying
    * MRICS, or be working towards chartership
    * Experience across building surveys and professional services
    * Strong project management capabilities
    * A proactive, organised and commercially astute approach
    * AutoCAD and NBS experience, beneficial
