How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Design & Technology Technician - Secondary School - Newham

    Are you a practical, organised individual with a passion for Design & Technology? Do you enjoy working in a hands-on environment and supporting students to develop valuable practical skills?

    A forward-thinking secondary school in Newham is seeking a reliable and enthusiastic Design & Technology Technician to join their successful DT department from September. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in supporting the delivery of engaging and creative lessons.

    The Role

    As a Design & Technology Technician, you will support the DT department by preparing materials, maintaining equipment and ensuring workshops are safe, organised and fully equipped for practical lessons. You will work closely with teaching staff to provide an outstanding learning environment for students.

    Key Responsibilities

    Prepare materials, tools and equipment for practical Design & Technology lessons.
    Maintain workshops, machinery and specialist equipment to ensure they are safe and fully operational.
    Assist teachers during practical sessions where required.
    Monitor stock levels and order materials and equipment.
    Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, including COSHH requirements.
    Carry out routine maintenance and report equipment faults.
    Keep workshops clean, organised and ready for teaching.
    Support students with the safe use of tools and equipment during practical activities.

    The Ideal Candidate

    Experience working in a Design & Technology workshop, engineering, manufacturing, construction or school environment.
    Good practical skills and confidence using a range of tools and equipment.
    Knowledge of workshop health and safety procedures.
    Organised, proactive and able to manage multiple tasks.
    Strong communication and teamwork skills.
    A willingness to support both staff and students in a busy department.
    An enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one).
