How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Senior Quantity Surveyor – Exeter | Competitive Salary + Benefits

    An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join a well-established and growing construction consultancy in Exeter.

    This role offers the chance to lead the commercial delivery of a diverse portfolio of construction projects across multiple sectors, working closely with clients, contractors, and internal teams to ensure projects are delivered within budget while maintaining the highest professional standards.

    The successful candidate will play a key role in providing expert cost consultancy services, managing client relationships, mentoring junior team members, and supporting the continued growth of the business. This position would suit an ambitious Quantity Surveyor looking to progress their career within a collaborative and forward-thinking consultancy.

    Key Responsibilities
    Lead the commercial management of construction projects from inception through to completion.
    Prepare cost plans, estimates, tender documentation, and procurement strategies.
    Manage contract administration and ensure projects remain within agreed budgets.
    Monitor project costs, variations, valuations, and final accounts.
    Provide accurate commercial advice and reporting to clients throughout the project lifecycle.
    Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, consultants, and contractors.
    Support and mentor junior Quantity Surveyors within the team.
    Ensure compliance with relevant industry standards, contracts, and best practice.
    Support business development activities and contribute to securing new opportunities. About You
    Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline.
    MRICS qualified or working towards chartership.
    Proven experience delivering Quantity Surveying services within a consultancy environment.
    Strong knowledge of cost planning, procurement, contract administration, and commercial management.
    Excellent commercial awareness and negotiation skills.
    Strong communication and stakeholder management abilities.
    Experience managing multiple projects across a range of sectors.
    A proactive and solutions-focused approach with excellent attention to detail.
