How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Salary range £40,000 to £55,000 - Subject to experience

    Our Client a privately owned and operated M&E/HVAC contractor, are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Commercial Pump Engineer to join there specialist team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the installation, commissioning, maintenance, and repair of a wide range of pump systems within commercial, industrial, and public sector environments across the UK.

    This role demands a strong technical understanding of pump mechanics, hydraulics, electrical control systems, and a commitment to delivering efficient and reliable solutions.

    You will work on critical infrastructure, ensuring the optimal performance of essential pump systems, from water boosting and drainage to HVAC circulation and specialised industrial applications.

    Key Responsibilities:-

    Installation & Commissioning: Install, test, and commission various types of commercial and industrial pump systems (e.g., booster sets, circulation pumps, submersible pumps, drainage pumps, fire pumps, vacuum pumps) according to specifications, schematics, and relevant UK standards.

    Preventative Maintenance: Conduct comprehensive planned preventative maintenance (PPM) on pump systems, including inspections, lubrication, vibration analysis, and performance checks, to ensure longevity and prevent breakdowns.

    Fault Diagnosis & Repair: Accurately diagnose mechanical, electrical, and control faults in pump systems. Perform efficient repairs, including motor replacements, bearing changes, seal replacements, impeller repairs, and control panel troubleshooting.

    System Optimisation: Identify opportunities to optimise pump system efficiency and performance, recommending upgrades or adjustments where appropriate.

    Electrical & Control Systems: Work confidently with associated electrical components, control panels, Variable Speed Drives (VSDs), and Building Management System (BMS) interfaces related to pump operation.

    Compliance & Safety: Ensure all work adheres strictly to current UK health and safety regulations, relevant British Standards, Water Regulations (WRAS), and industry best practices.

    Documentation: Maintain meticulous records of all work performed, including detailed service reports, fault logs, material usage, and time spent on projects.

    Client & Stakeholder Liaison: Communicate effectively with clients, site managers, facilities teams, and other trades, providing technical advice and ensuring smooth project delivery and client satisfaction.

    Emergency Response: Participate in an on-call rota for emergency pump breakdowns, responding promptly and effectively to minimise client disruption.

    Tool & Equipment Management: Ensure all tools, testing equipment, and personal protective equipment (PPE) are maintained, calibrated, and used safely and correctly.
    Experience:

    Minimum of 3-5 years of hands-on experience as a Commercial/Industrial Pump Engineer or a similar role.
    Proven experience with a diverse range of pump types and applications in commercial or industrial settings.
    Experience in fault finding on both mechanical and electrical aspects of pump systems.
    Familiarity with pump control systems, including pressure switches, flow switches, and VSDs.
    Skills & Attributes:

    Technical Expertise: Strong mechanical aptitude combined with solid electrical diagnostic and repair skills.
    Hydraulic Knowledge: Good understanding of hydraulic principles, pump curves, and system design related to fluid transfer.
    Problem-Solving: Exceptional diagnostic capabilities and a methodical approach to fault resolution.
    Attention to Detail: Meticulous approach to work, ensuring precision and accuracy in all tasks.
    Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills for technical reporting and client interaction.
    Autonomy & Teamwork: Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, as well as collaboratively within a team.
    Organisational Skills: Strong ability to manage time, prioritise workloads, and meet project deadlines.
    Safety Conscious: Unwavering commitment to health and safety protocols and safe working practices.
    Desirable Skills (Advantageous but not essential):

    Manufacturer-specific training or certifications for major pump brands.
    Confined Space entry certification.
    Working at Height certification.
    First Aid certification.
    Experience with PLC or BMS integration for pump control.
