How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Electrical Design Engineer - Greater Manchester Area - Up to £50,000 + Bonus + Private Healthcare + Hybrid Working

    Do you have experience in electrical design within a consultancy, contractor or multidisciplinary engineering environment?

    Are you confident with LV electrical distribution systems, including load assessments, cable sizing and equipment selection?

    Do you have knowledge of BS 7671, Building Regulations and relevant British Standards?

    Can you produce and coordinate electrical drawings, schematics, specifications and calculations?

    If the answers are yes, we are hiring for an Electrical Design Engineer opportunity within a growing decarbonisation and renewable energy design team.

    WHAT YOU NEED...

    HND, Degree or equivalent qualification in Electrical Engineering, Building Services Engineering or a related discipline.

    Experience in electrical design within a consultancy, contractor or multidisciplinary engineering environment.

    Understanding of LV electrical distribution systems, including load assessment, cable sizing and equipment selection.

    Ability to prepare and coordinate electrical drawings, schematics, specifications and calculations.

    Knowledge of BS 7671, Building Regulations and relevant British Standards.

    Experience using AutoCAD and industry-standard electrical design software.

    Strong written and verbal communication skills.

    Ability to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary project teams.

    Commitment to continuous learning and professional development.

    Experience with Revit, Navisworks, Dialux, Relux, PVSyst, ETAP or similar software.

    Experience supporting projects through RIBA design stages.

    Knowledge of DNO application processes.

    Experience within healthcare, education, defence, commercial or public sector projects.

    Working towards membership of IET, CIBSE or a similar professional body.

    Day To Day...

    Support the design and development of electrical systems for renewable energy and decarbonisation projects.

    Produce electrical drawings, schematics, specifications and calculations.

    Carry out load assessments and support the sizing of switchgear, cables and distribution systems.

    Develop single line diagrams from concept through to detailed design.

    Assist with feasibility studies, technical assessments and project reporting.

    Work alongside mechanical, civil, structural and energy specialists to deliver coordinated designs.

    Attend site surveys, inspections, testing and commissioning activities.

    Support projects through multiple design stages.

    Ensure designs comply with relevant standards, regulations and quality procedures.

    Contribute to sustainability, energy efficiency and low-carbon engineering solutions.
