How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

Are you an experienced Transport Planner looking for your next challenge within a busy, fast-moving transport operation?

We're recruiting on behalf of a well-established organisation operating a nationwide distribution network within the construction materials sector. This is an opportunity to become part of a professional transport team where you'll play a key role in coordinating the movement of a modern fleet, ensuring customers receive an efficient and reliable service across the UK.

This role would suit someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, enjoys problem-solving and takes pride in delivering a first-class transport operation.

    The Role

As Transport Planner, you'll be responsible for coordinating the daily movements of a national fleet of LGV flatbed vehicles. Working closely with drivers, customers and internal departments, you'll ensure deliveries are planned efficiently, resources are utilised effectively and customer expectations are consistently met.

    Your responsibilities will include:

Producing effective daily transport plans for a nationwide fleet of LGV flatbed vehicles.
Allocating work to drivers while considering delivery priorities, driver hours and vehicle availability.
Monitoring vehicle movements throughout the day and responding quickly to operational changes.
Building strong working relationships with drivers, customers, warehouse teams and other internal departments.
Maximising fleet utilisation while maintaining high levels of service and controlling transport costs.
Ensuring all transport activities comply with current legislation, including Driver Hours, Working Time Directive and operator compliance requirements.
Resolving delivery issues and providing practical solutions to minimise disruption.
Maintaining accurate transport records and supporting continuous improvements across the operation.

    About You

We're looking for someone who already has experience within a busy UK transport planning environment and enjoys the challenge of coordinating a national operation.

    You'll ideally have:

Previous experience in a Transport Planner or Transport Coordinator position.
Experience planning LGV vehicles across a UK-wide distribution network.
Knowledge of flatbed operations or construction materials would be a distinct advantage.
A sound understanding of UK transport legislation and driver compliance requirements.
Strong geographical knowledge of the UK road network.
    Excellent communication and organisational skills.
The ability to remain calm under pressure and adapt quickly to changing priorities.
A proactive, solution-focused approach with strong attention to detail.

    What's in it for You?

    Salary of £35,000 per annum
    Monday to Friday working pattern
    8:00am to 5:00pm
    No weekend working
    Permanent, full-time opportunity
    Free on-site parking
Join a successful and growing business with long-term career prospects
    Supportive and collaborative working environment
If you're an experienced Transport Planner looking to join a stable business where your planning expertise can make a real difference, we'd love to hear from you.
