How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    S/4 Senior ABAP Consultant

    Field Based

    Salary range £66,000 - £71,000 per annum, car/car allowance, plus 33 days holiday (including bank holidays), pension, bonus, life assurance, employee assistance programme, wellbeing support, and flexible benefits including cycle to work scheme

    About the Role

    As an S/4 Senior ABAP Consultant, you will be responsible for executing, designing, and implementing custom code enhancements, workflows, and extensions within the S/4HANA development stream. You will ensure that individual client projects receive high-performing, optimised code objects that strictly follow the practice's development standards. You will act as an autonomous technical lead, facilitating complex technical workshops, authoring high-quality technical blueprints, and confidently building advanced S/4HANA extensions.

    As part of your key responsibilities you’ll:

    Lead the hands-on development of advanced ABAP components, including RESTful Application Programming (RAP), Business Object Processing Framework (BOPF), Core Data Services (CDS) Views, OData services, and complex workflow engines.
    Assist the presales capability by developing standard extension proof-of-concepts (PoCs) and system demonstrations within Private and Public Cloud environments.
    Execute development tasks in strict alignment with the latest SAP offerings, utilising SAP Activate templates and logging code readiness via Cloud ALM.
    Review Technical Design Documents (TDDs) against functional specifications to ensure custom components map cleanly to business workflows.
    Support the design and delivery of internal technical training, developer hackathons, and knowledge-sharing workshops focused on modern S/4HANA programming models.
    Conduct deep-dive code reviews, performance optimisations, and automated testing via the ABAP Test Cockpit (ATC) to ensure stable deployment.

    About You

    We’d love you to have the following skills and experience, but please apply if you think you’d be able to perform well in this role!

    Essential

    Extensive SAP development experience, with a heavy focus on advanced ABAP programming and experience in at least 2 full-lifecycle S/4HANA implementation or migration projects.
    Strong working knowledge of the SAP Activate Methodology, with relevant certifications in SAP S/4HANA ABAP Development or SAP BTP preferred.
    Proven hands-on experience building on-stack and side-by-side extensions using modern S/4HANA architecture guidelines.
    Excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate complex technical code logic into clear, high-value process choices for functional leads and client teams.
    A valid passport and the flexibility to travel nationally and internationally as required to support project development sprints, integration testing phases, and client alignment sessions.
    A proven aptitude for mentoring junior developers and confidently defending technical designs in front of client technical teams.
