How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

Sales Manager – FMCG | New Business

Manchester Area | Hybrid – Office based in Widnes ideally once per week

Are you an experienced Sales Manager or Business Development Manager looking for a role where you can carve out your own path, while still having the structure, support and clear goals to know exactly what's expected?

You'll enjoy this role if you thrive on winning new business but also like thinking strategically about how to maximise opportunities. It's not just a 'sell, sell, sell' job. You'll use your experience in B2B product sales to identify the right products for customers, find alternatives when stock is limited, reduce waste and increase revenue – growing both the business and your own commission.

You'll inherit a small number of existing customer accounts with genuine growth potential, but the biggest focus will be developing new business across the foodservice, wholesale, retail and distribution sectors. The sales strategy is yours to shape, giving you the freedom to build something that works.

Once you've established yourself, you'll have the budget and autonomy to recruit, develop and mentor your own sales team, creating the culture and performance standards you want.

The business supplies an extensive range of FMCG products across multiple sectors, giving you plenty of opportunities to open new markets, develop existing customers and build long-term relationships. If you enjoy spotting opportunities and turning conversations into lasting business, you'll have everything you need to succeed.

    What you'll be doing

    *

Winning new business across wholesale, foodservice, retail and distribution, while growing revenue from existing customer accounts.

    *

Negotiating prices and commercial agreements with customers, working closely with Finance to protect margins and maximise profitability.

    *

Identifying opportunities to increase sales of slow-moving stock through cross-selling, upselling and alternative product solutions.

    *

Managing your sales pipeline, CRM activity, forecasting and reporting.

    *

Leading, motivating and developing a team of two Sales Executives, with the opportunity to recruit and expand the team.

    *

Working closely with Supply Chain and Operations to deliver exceptional customer service and encourage repeat business.

    *

Contributing to the company's commercial growth strategy by identifying new opportunities and delivering against sales targets.

Within your first 12 months you'll have built a motivated and engaged sales team, consistently delivered or exceeded sales targets, secured new B2B customers, increased revenue across existing accounts, improved sales forecasting and CRM discipline, enhanced customer retention and played a significant part in the company's continued commercial growth.

    Package & Benefits

    *

    Competitive basic salary.

    *

    Bonus.

    *

    Uncapped commission.

    *

    Car allowance.

    *

    Annual salary reviews.

    *

25 days' holiday, increasing to 27 days after three years' service and 30 days after five years' service.

    *

Option to buy additional annual leave.

    *

Flexible hours and hybrid working, with an office presence ideally once a week.

    *

Medical cash plan and access to mental health support.

    *

    Enhanced maternity and paternity pay.

    *

    Generous company sick pay.

    *

    Pension scheme contribution.

    *

Ongoing learning and development with genuine career progression opportunities.

    *

Yearly company bonus based on business performance.

    *

    Cycle to Work scheme.

    *

    Regular company social events.

    What we're looking for

You'll already have experience as a Sales Manager, Business Development Manager, National Account Manager or in a similar B2B sales role, together with experience managing a small sales team.

You'll have product sales experience and have successfully sold into foodservice, wholesale, distribution or retail markets. You'll be comfortable developing new business while also growing existing customer accounts, negotiating commercially and building long-term customer relationships.

You'll also be confident managing a sales pipeline, using CRM systems, forecasting sales performance and working collaboratively with internal teams to deliver an exceptional customer experience.

This Sales Manager role would suit someone who enjoys opening new markets, developing people and having the autonomy to shape a growing sales function within a successful FMCG business.
