How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

Are you passionate about supporting young people and helping them overcome barriers to education?

Do you have strong communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with students, parents, and staff?

Tradewind Recruitment is working in partnership with a welcoming and supportive secondary school in Hillingdon seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and organised Attendance Officer from September 2026. This full-time role is ideal for someone with experience in school administration, pastoral support, attendance monitoring, or working with young people who is passionate about improving student outcomes.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a dedicated pastoral team, support attendance improvement strategies, and play a key role in ensuring students are attending school regularly and engaging positively with their education.

    The Role

As an Attendance Officer, you will work closely with the pastoral team, Heads of Year, senior leaders, students, and families to monitor attendance, identify concerns, and provide effective support to improve attendance and punctuality.

    Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:

Monitoring daily attendance and punctuality across the school.
Following up unexplained absences and maintaining accurate attendance records.
Identifying attendance trends, persistent absence, and students requiring additional support.
Contacting parents/carers regarding attendance concerns and working collaboratively to improve attendance.
Building positive relationships with students and supporting those experiencing barriers to attending school.
Working closely with pastoral staff, safeguarding teams, and external agencies where required.
Supporting attendance meetings, intervention plans, and reintegration programmes.
Maintaining accurate records using school systems such as SIMS, Arbor, or Bromcom.
Producing attendance reports and providing updates to relevant staff.
Supporting wider pastoral and administrative duties to promote student wellbeing.
Ensuring all work is completed in line with safeguarding, confidentiality, and GDPR requirements.

Who the School is Looking For

The school is keen to hear from candidates who are passionate about supporting young people and making a positive difference to their educational experience.

    You should have:

Previous experience working with children or young people, ideally within a secondary school setting.
Experience using MIS systems such as SIMS, Arbor or Bromcom.
    Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Confidence communicating professionally with parents/carers and external professionals.
Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
The ability to manage sensitive information confidentially.
A proactive, supportive, and solution-focused approach.
The ability to build positive relationships with students and encourage engagement.
Good IT skills, including confidence using databases and school systems.
Knowledge of attendance procedures, safeguarding, or pastoral support is desirable.

    Why Apply?

Join a supportive and welcoming secondary school in Hillingdon.
Make a direct impact on improving student attendance and outcomes.
Work closely with an experienced pastoral and safeguarding team.
Develop valuable experience within school attendance and student support.
Build strong relationships with students, families, and education professionals.
    Full-time, term-time role starting September 2026.
Excellent opportunity for long-term progression within education.

    How to Apply

If you are passionate about supporting young people and would like to play a key role in improving attendance and wellbeing within a secondary school environment, this could be the perfect opportunity for you.
