How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Are you an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant looking for a rewarding full-time role where you can make a genuine difference to the lives of children with Special Educational Needs?

    A welcoming and inclusive mainstream primary school in Newham is looking to appoint a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join their team from September 2026. This full-time, long-term role involves providing 1:1 support for a pupil with Special Educational Needs, helping them to thrive both academically and socially.

    The school is seeking a confident, resilient, and patient individual who can build strong relationships, provide consistent support, and become a positive role model both inside and outside of the classroom.

    This SEN Teaching Assistant position is ideal for candidates with experience supporting pupils with Autism (ASC), ADHD, SEMH, speech and language needs, or behavioural difficulties, who are passionate about helping children achieve their full potential.

    The RoleAs a SEN Teaching Assistant, you will work on a 1:1 basis, supporting a pupil throughout the school day. You will help them access learning, develop confidence, improve their social and emotional skills, and engage positively within the classroom.

    Working closely with the class teacher and SENCO, you will implement personalised learning strategies while promoting independence, emotional regulation, and positive behaviour.

    Responsibilities
    Provide dedicated 1:1 support for a pupil with Special Educational Needs.
    Build a positive, trusting, and consistent relationship with your assigned pupil.
    Act as a calm, patient, and encouraging role model.
    Support pupils with Autism (ASC), ADHD, SEMH, speech and language needs, and associated behavioural needs.
    Deliver personalised interventions and support EHCP outcomes.
    Encourage emotional regulation, confidence, and positive behaviour strategies.
    Support learning across EYFS, KS1, or KS2 depending on the school's needs.
    Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, parents, and external professionals.
    Help pupils develop independence, communication, and social skills both inside and outside the classroom.About YouTo be considered for this SEN Teaching Assistant role, you will have:

    A minimum of one year's experience supporting children within a school setting.
    Experience working with pupils with Autism (ASC), ADHD, SEMH, or other Special Educational Needs.
    Strong behaviour management skills.
    The ability to build positive relationships and become a consistent role model.
    A calm, resilient, and proactive approach.
    Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
    An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one.Candidates with backgrounds in youth work, mentoring, sports coaching, behaviour support, youth offending services, care work, or alternative provisions are also encouraged to apply.
