How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    An exciting opportunity to help shape the future of engineering

    Our client is a well-established Scottish manufacturer entering an exciting period of investment, growth and operational improvement.

    As part of this journey, they are strengthening their engineering function and are looking to recruit an experienced Mechanical Maintenance Engineer to play a key role in improving equipment reliability, driving continuous improvement and supporting the development of a proactive maintenance culture.

    This is an opportunity to join a business where engineering is valued, investment is ongoing and you'll have genuine input into improving plant performance rather than simply responding to breakdowns.

    The Role

    Working as part of an expanding engineering team, you'll be responsible for maintaining and improving a wide range of manufacturing and production equipment while contributing towards projects focused on reliability, efficiency and continuous improvement.

    Alongside planned and reactive maintenance, you'll play an active role in developing engineering standards, improving maintenance systems and supporting new equipment installation projects.

    Key Responsibilities

    * Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) across manufacturing equipment.

    * Diagnose and repair mechanical faults, minimising production downtime.

    * Fault-find and repair mechanical systems including bearings, gearboxes, chains, belts, conveyors, pumps, motors, hydraulics and pneumatics.

    * Assist with basic electrical fault finding as part of a multi-skilled engineering team.

    * Support equipment upgrades, installations and commissioning activities.

    * Contribute towards continuous improvement initiatives focused on reliability, efficiency and plant performance.

    * Identify root causes of recurring failures and recommend permanent engineering solutions.

    * Ensure all maintenance activity is accurately recorded using the CMMS system.

    * Maintain the highest standards of health & safety, food safety (where applicable) and engineering compliance.

    * Participate in the on-call rota.

    About You

    We're keen to speak with experienced Mechanical Maintenance Engineers from manufacturing, FMCG or other fast-paced production environments.

    You will ideally have:

    * Time-served apprenticeship or recognised Mechanical Engineering qualification.

    * Strong mechanical maintenance and fault-finding experience.

    * Experience working with conveyors, pumps, motors, bearings, gearboxes, hydraulics and pneumatics.

    * Experience carrying out preventative maintenance programmes.

    * Basic electrical fault-finding skills would be advantageous.

    * Experience using a CMMS or maintenance management system.

    * A proactive approach with a genuine interest in continuous improvement.

    * Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.

    * A strong commitment to safe working practices.

    What's on Offer

    * Salary of £48,000 – £50,000.

    * Permanent full-time position.

    * 4 on / 4 off day shift pattern.

    * Company pension.

    * Generous holiday entitlement.

    * Employee benefits package.

    * Ongoing training and development.

    * Genuine opportunities to influence engineering standards and maintenance strategy.

    * Long-term career prospects within a growing and forward-thinking manufacturing business.

    Interested?

    If you're looking to join a business that is investing in its people, equipment and engineering capability, we'd welcome the opportunity to discuss this role with you in confidence
