You'll work with customers to provide reliable proposals, resolve technical queries and help projects move smoothly from quote to install.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
• Design solar PV and battery storage systems for domestic and small commercial properties using survey information, site data and customer requirements.
• Log new enquiries and job details accurately within the company CRM system.
• Produce layouts, string designs, inverter/battery configurations and proposed cable routes.
• Assess roof suitability, orientation, shading, available space and expected system performance.
• Engage with customers throughout the proposal process, clearly communicating product information and delivering an excellent standard of service.
• Price jobs with precision in line with the company's Schedule of Rates.
• Create equipment and parts lists to support procurement and installation.
• Support quotations by providing technical input and system recommendations.
• Ensure designs meet relevant standards, guidance and industry requirements (including MCS-aligned expectations where applicable).
• Review survey data, photographs, drone imagery (where available) and site notes; liaise with the site team to fill any technical gaps.
• Collaborate with operations and installation teams to ensure designs are practical and installable.
• Amend and refine designs following technical review, stock changes or customer revisions.
• Support DNO application information and produce supporting technical documentation when needed.
• Provide technical support to internal teams and carry out occasional site visits to validate complex designs and support project handover.
WHAT YOU'LL BRING
• Previous experience in solar PV system design, ideally with PV*Sol.
• Electrical awareness relevant to the role (or equivalent practical experience).
• Strong understanding of solar PV systems, electrical design principles and battery storage integration.
• Ability to interpret site survey information, roof layouts and technical photographs, with a practical understanding of installation requirements.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to produce accurate, compliant designs; confident using design/layout and performance modelling tools.
• Clear communication and strong organisation; able to manage multiple projects and stakeholders.
DESIRABLE EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS (not essential)
• Experience working with MCS-aligned solar PV design requirements.
• Familiarity with DNO application processes.
• Experience designing both retrofit and new-build systems.
• Knowledge of inverter, optimiser and battery manufacturers commonly used in the UK market.
• NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installation (or equivalent).
• 18th Edition Wiring Regulations.
• Full UK driving licence (for occasional site visits).

£35000.00 - £45000.00 per year
