How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Metadata Lead

    Location: Remote – with requirement to visit Hampshire based office 2-3 times a month

    Hours: 37.5 hours a week (Monday – Friday 9:00am – 17:00pm)

    Salary Range: Up to £80,000 per annum (Depending on Experience)

    Contract Type: Permanent, Full-Time

    About the Opportunity

    An exceptional leadership opportunity has arisen for an experienced Data Governance & Metadata Lead to join a UK-leading, award-winning corporate organisation.

    In this pivotal role, you will take complete ownership of the enterprise metadata capability, playing a key part in shaping how data is discovered, governed, and trusted across the entire organisation. You will own the vision and strategic roadmap for the metadata tooling landscape (including Collibra and Unity Catalog), ensuring they operate as a cohesive, high-performing ecosystem.

    Working closely with Data Owners, Stewards, IT, and the wider data community, you will translate technical and regulatory needs into scalable, business-focused solutions while driving adoption, value realisation, and continuous improvement. This is an exciting opportunity for an established data leader ready to drive real, measurable business value through modern data practices.

    Key Responsibilities

    * Roadmap Ownership: Design, own, and deliver the strategic metadata roadmap across the enterprise.

    * Tooling Strategy: Lead the configuration, rollout, and value realisation plans for Collibra and Unity Catalog platforms.

    * Governance Integration: Partner with key stakeholders to use metadata tooling and processes to enable the effective delivery of Data Governance and Data Quality outcomes.

    * Advocate Value: Promote the purpose and value of metadata tooling through data forums, workshops, and demonstrations to maximise the business return on tooling investments.

    * Process Automation: Utilise metadata tooling capabilities to optimise and automate data governance processes.

    * Transformation Support: Support major data migration and business integration programmes, underpinned by focused and measurable performance metrics.

    What We Are Looking For

    To succeed in this leadership position, you will bring extensive technical expertise in metadata tools combined with strong coaching and influencing capabilities:

    * Metadata Expertise: You are a Collibra specialist with deep data cataloguing and lineage knowledge, coupled with robust, hands-on Databricks Unity Catalog experience.

    * Delivery Leadership: Proven experience designing and executing delivery roadmaps that are underpinned by purposeful outcomes and clear business value.

    * Communication & Translation: The ability to translate complex technical solutions into clear, understandable, and value-led business outcomes.

    * Governance Focus: A thorough understanding of Data Governance and Data Quality best practices, with a track record of using metadata tools to unlock business value.

    * Coaching & Mentorship: Experience developing junior data governance and data quality stakeholders, with the ability to set a clear vision and path that team members can execute against.

    * Influencing Skills: Strong influencing skills to guide Data Owners and Stewards in executing their duties effectively, placing metadata tools at the heart of daily processes.
