How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Mechanical Design Engineer – Leeds

    Salary: £45-55k

    We're looking for an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to join a growing engineering business that designs and delivers bespoke industrial process and handling systems for customers across the UK and internationally.

    This is an opportunity to work on complex, project-led engineering solutions from concept through to commissioning, taking ownership of mechanical design while working closely with manufacturing, installation and project teams.

    The Role

    You'll be responsible for the design, development and delivery of mechanical systems, ensuring projects are completed safely, on time and within budget.

    Key responsibilities include:

    * Producing high-quality mechanical design drawings using CAD software.

    * Designing bespoke mechanical equipment and engineered systems.

    * Specifying and procuring mechanical components and equipment.

    * Supporting projects from initial enquiry through manufacture, installation and commissioning.

    * Working closely with clients, suppliers and subcontractors throughout the project lifecycle.

    * Providing technical support and resolving design or installation issues.

    About You

    You'll be a practical engineer who enjoys solving problems and seeing projects through from design to completion.

    We're looking for someone with:

    * Degree, HND or HNC in Mechanical Engineering (or similar).

    * At least five years' experience in mechanical design.

    * Strong CAD experience (Inventor experience would be advantageous).

    * Experience designing mechanical handling or industrial process equipment.

    * Full UK driving licence.

    * Willingness to travel occasionally to customer sites for commissioning and project support.
