How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Are you a Mechanical Engineer looking to take the next step in your career? Do you want to work on complex engineering projects that help power a more sustainable future?
    Our client is a leading company within the Energy from Waste and resource management sector. As they continue to invest in their operations and future growth, they are looking for a talented Mechanical Engineer to join their engineering team.
    The Role
    As a Mechanical Engineer, you'll play a key role in ensuring the reliability, performance and continuous improvement of critical plant assets. Working closely with the Operations, Maintenance and Engineering teams, you'll support major maintenance projects, outage planning and long-term asset strategies.
    Key Responsibilities
    * Develop and support long-term mechanical asset management strategies.
    * Plan and deliver major maintenance and outage projects.
    * Provide technical support to maintenance teams.
    * Assist with developing site engineering and maintenance strategies to improve plant reliability, efficiency and long-term performance.
    * Support site improvement projects, plant upgrades and continuous improvement initiatives.
    * Identify opportunities to improve plant reliability and operational efficiency.
    * Manage engineering projects from planning through to completion.
    * Ensure compliance with all health, safety and environmental standards.
    * Work collaboratively across multiple departments to drive continuous improvement.
    About You
    We're looking for someone with:
    * A degree or equivalent qualification in Mechanical Engineering.
    * Experience within heavy industry, manufacturing, power generation, Energy from Waste, or a similar process environment.
    * Strong knowledge of rotating equipment, pumps, conveyors, steam systems, and other heavy mechanical plant.
    * Excellent problem-solving and project management skills.
    * Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively across multidisciplinary teams.
    * Working towards or holding IEng or CEng status would be advantageous.
