How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

Working closely with engineers, project managers, and clients, the Civil Designer will ensure designs meet project requirements, industry standards, and regulatory compliance.

Develop designs for process treatment, drainage systems, utilities, earthworks, and site infrastructure.

Assist in the preparation of calculations, technical reports, specifications, and construction documentation.

Interpret survey data, geotechnical reports, and engineering requirements to support design development.

Ensure designs comply with relevant legislation, standards, regulations, and client specifications.

Coordinate design activities with engineers, contractors, utility providers, and other stakeholders.

Review and update drawings throughout project lifecycles, incorporating design changes and client feedback.

Support project planning, feasibility studies, and cost estimation activities.

Conduct site visits as required to gather information and verify design requirements.

Participate in design reviews, risk assessments, and quality assurance processes.

Maintain accurate project records and document control procedures.

    Skills and Experience

HNC/HND, Degree, or equivalent qualification in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.

Relevant industry certifications or professional memberships (e.g., ICE, EngTech) are advantageous.

Experience in civil design within infrastructure, utilities, and construction projects.

Proficiency in AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Solidworks or equivalent civil engineering design software.

Strong understanding of civil engineering principles, design standards, and construction practices.

Ability to interpret technical specifications, engineering drawings, and survey information.

Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organisational skills.

Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.

Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.

Knowledge of BIM processes and standards.

Familiarity with UK design standards and local authority requirements.

Experience working within multidisciplinary design teams.
