How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Timber Assembly Operator
    Newhaven, East Sussex | £28,704 per annum
    Join an established specialist manufacturer producing bespoke, precision-built furniture for demanding commercial environments. This hands-on workshop role suits an experienced furniture maker, cabinet maker or joiner who takes pride in accurate, high-quality assembly.
    The Role
    * Assemble bespoke furniture and cabinetry to technical drawings and specifications.
    * Measure, cut, shape and assemble timber-based components to precise dimensions.
    * Glue, fit and clamp components and sub-assemblies into complete units.
    * Install and adjust hinges, drawer runners, catches, locks, handles and associated hardware.
    * Sand and prepare joints and surfaces ready for finishing.
    * Safely operate and maintain woodworking machinery, power tools and hand tools.
    * Inspect completed work against quality requirements and specifications.
    * Maintain a clean, safe and organised workshop and support occasional site work.
    What you will bring
    * Proven experience as a furniture maker, cabinet maker, joiner or within a similar woodworking role.
    * Strong knowledge of woodworking machinery, hand tools, joinery techniques and timber-based materials.
    * Ability to interpret technical drawings and work accurately from measurements.
    * High attention to detail with practical problem-solving skills.
    * A reliable and punctual approach, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
    * A full UK driving licence is preferred due to occasional site work.
