How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    CNC Turner/Programmer Setter Operator
    Based Swindon
    Salary £40,000 - £45,000 (inclusive of shift allowance)

    The primary purpose of this position is to ensure the safe, effective and efficient operation of the CNC Turning area while providing technical support within the manufacturing team.
    As a CNC Turner / Programmer / Setter / Operator, you will report directly to the Senior Production Engineers.

    Main duties and responsibilities:

    The following outlines the principal duties of the role. This list is not exhaustive, and a flexible approach is required as you may occasionally be asked to assist in other areas of the business.

    To support the CNC Turning area in ensuring the safe and efficient operation of the company’s CNC Turning machine centres.
    Program, Set and Operate the company’s multi-axis CNC Turning Machines
    Create new CNC programs and modify existing programs to meet engineering drawing requirements
    Interpret engineering drawings, specifications and work instructions accurately.
    Carry out first-off inspections and ongoing in-process quality checks to ensure components meet specification.
    Select, maintain and manage cutting tools, fixtures and equipment to ensure maximum machine efficiency.
    Ensure all tooling, equipment and work holding are maintained and readily available
    Complete all required production documentation and ensure correct identification and movement of products throughout the manufacturing process.

    Experience:

    Apprenticeship-trained or qualified in Mechanical/Manufacturing Engineering (or equivalent experience).
    Proven experience programming, setting and operating CNC Turning machines.
    Experience with Mazatrol/Mazak machine centres would be advantageous.
    Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
    Experience using a range of measuring equipment and maintaining high quality standards.
