How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

We are currently recruiting for a compassionate, motivated, and dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join a supportive secondary special school in Bilston. This full-time role begins in September 2026 and will continue until July 2027, with the opportunity for a permanent position for the right candidate.

    About the School

This well-established specialist secondary school provides high-quality education for pupils aged 11–16 with Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD) and a range of additional educational needs. The school is committed to creating a positive, nurturing, and inclusive learning environment where every young person is encouraged to develop academically, socially, and emotionally.

Staff work collaboratively to provide personalised support, helping pupils build confidence, independence, and the skills they need to prepare for adulthood.

    The Role

As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teachers and the wider support team to provide tailored support for pupils with Moderate Learning Difficulties. You will assist students both within the classroom and during small group or one-to-one interventions, helping them engage with learning, develop essential life skills, and achieve their individual education targets.

This is an incredibly rewarding opportunity for someone who is passionate about supporting young people with additional needs and making a genuine difference to their educational journey.

    Key Responsibilities

    *

Support pupils with Moderate Learning Difficulties throughout the school day.

    *

Work alongside teaching staff to deliver engaging, differentiated learning activities.

    *

Provide one-to-one and small group support to help pupils access the curriculum.

    *

Encourage positive behaviour, communication, independence, and social development.

    *

Adapt learning resources and classroom activities to meet individual needs.

    *

Support pupils' emotional wellbeing and contribute to a calm, safe, and inclusive learning environment.

    *

Build positive relationships with teachers, parents, carers, therapists, and other professionals.

    *

Observe, monitor, and record pupil progress, providing feedback to teaching staff where appropriate.

    The Ideal Candidate

We welcome applications from enthusiastic and caring individuals who are committed to supporting young people with Special Educational Needs.

    *

A degree (or be in their final year of university) in any subject, or relevant experience working with young people.

    *

Experience supporting children or young people with Special Educational Needs (preferred but not essential).

    *

A patient, empathetic, and resilient approach.

    *

    Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

    *

The ability to build positive, trusting relationships with pupils and colleagues.

    *

A proactive attitude and a genuine passion for helping young people achieve their full potential.

    What the School Offers

    *

A welcoming and highly supportive specialist secondary school environment.

    *

Ongoing training and excellent professional development opportunities.

    *

Valuable experience working with pupils with Moderate Learning Difficulties.

    *

The opportunity to work alongside experienced SEN professionals and multidisciplinary teams.

    *

The chance to make a lasting impact on the lives and future outcomes of young people.

    *

Potential for a permanent position for the successful candidate.

If you are passionate about supporting young people with Moderate Learning Difficulties and are looking to develop your career within specialist education, this is an excellent opportunity to join a dedicated and caring secondary school in Bilston. We would love to hear from you.

Salary is dependent on experience, training, or qualifications. The minimum experience, training or qualifications required for this position is previous experience working in a school setting.
