How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Goods Inwards Inspector

    Dewsbury

    Salary: £32,000 - £35,000 per annum

Are you passionate about quality and precision?

We're looking for a proactive Goods Inwards Inspector to join our engineering team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a keen eye for detail who takes pride in ensuring only high-quality materials enter production.

As a key member of the business, you'll be responsible for inspecting and verifying all incoming goods, materials and components, ensuring they meet required specifications, quality standards and certification requirements before they are released into production. Working closely with the Stores team and wider engineering departments, you'll play a vital role in maintaining full traceability and compliance with industry standards.

    Key Responsibilities

    * Documentation Verification: Checking delivery notes, certificates of conformity (CofC), and material certificates against purchase orders.

    * Physical Inspection: Measuring components using specialized equipment, evaluating surface finishes, and reviewing assembly drawings.

    * Defect Management: Identifying and segregating faulty or damaged items and generating non-conformance reports (NCR).

    * Stock Tracking: Booking compliant parts into the warehouse or ERP system to ensure traceability.

    * Internal Collaboration: work closely with Stores, Production and Engineering teams to ensure smooth flow of materials

    * Supplier Site Visit: occasional travel to suppliers to carry out pre-delivery material inspections

    What We're Looking For

    * Previous experience inspecting goods and materials within an engineering or manufacturing environment.

    * The ability to build strong working relationships with internal departments and external suppliers.

    * A good understanding of engineering drawings, fabrication, welding and assembly processes.

    * Competent IT skills, including Microsoft Word and Excel, with experience of stock control software advantageous.

    * Willingness to travel occasionally to supplier sites for inspections.

    * A proactive, self-motivated individual who can work independently, take ownership of tasks and demonstrate a positive, can-do attitude.

    What's on Offer?

    * Salary: £32,000 - £35,000, depending on experience.

    * The opportunity to join a well-established engineering business where quality is at the heart of everything we do.

    * A varied role with responsibility and autonomy.

    * A supportive team environment with opportunities to develop your skills and experience.
