How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Senior MEICA Estimator / Proposals Engineer
    Location: Falmer (Hybrid/Remote working available with occasional office and site travel)
    Hours: Full-time (40 hours per week)
    Rate : £600 per day Inside IR35
    We are recruiting for an experienced Senior MEICA Estimator / Proposals Engineer to join a leading engineering and infrastructure business delivering major projects within the UK water sector.
    This is an excellent opportunity to play a key role in the pre-construction phase, developing competitive, value-driven mechanical and electrical solutions for a portfolio of infrastructure projects.
    Key Responsibilities
    ·Prepare MEICA estimates and tender submissions for a range of projects.
    ·Develop budget estimates and detailed pricing from available information.
    ·Review technical specifications, drawings and project documentation.
    ·Identify project risks, opportunities and value engineering solutions.
    ·Liaise with design teams, commercial teams, suppliers and subcontractors.
    ·Evaluate supplier quotations and prepare cost comparisons.
    ·Support bid submissions, client meetings and site visits where required.
    ·Deliver high-quality tenders within agreed timescales.
    About You
    ·Proven experience estimating MEICA projects within the UK water industry.
    ·Strong understanding of mechanical and electrical assets and processes.
    ·Experience producing both budget estimates and detailed tender pricing.
    ·Commercially aware with excellent organisational and communication skills.
    ·Comfortable working within multidisciplinary project teams.
    ·Proficient with estimating software and Microsoft Office.
    ·Ability to identify risks, opportunities and cost-effective engineering solutions.
