BBS Recruitment Ltd is currently recruiting for an experienced Legal Officer on behalf of our client based in Nottingham
This is an excellent opportunity for a legal professional to join a busy Legal Services team, providing legal advice, guidance, and representation on matters relating to Planning, Highways, Rights of Way, and supporting major projects.
Key Responsibilities of Legal Practitioner:
* Provide legal advice, guidance, and representation to internal and external clients.
* Manage a varied caseload involving Planning, Highways, Rights of Way, and other legal matters as required.
* Represent the Council in legal proceedings and attend meetings to provide legal advice.
* Support colleagues within the Legal Services team and contribute to service delivery.
* Ensure compliance with legislation, professional standards, and the Authority's policies and procedures.
* Keep up to date with changes in legislation and contribute to service improvements.
* Build positive relationships with colleagues, customers, and stakeholders.
* Deliver high-quality legal services while meeting performance targets and deadlines.
Hours for the Legal Practitioner: 37 hours per week
Requirements for the Legal Practitioner:
* Law degree or equivalent legal qualification
* Knowledge or experience in Planning Law, Highways Law, Rights of Way, or Local Government Law.
* Understanding of the statutory and governance framework within Local Authorities.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
* Strong organisational and case management skills.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
* A proactive, customer-focused approach with excellent attention to detail.
