We're seeking a Project Finance Controller to join a leading organisation in the renewable energy sector, supporting a portfolio of onshore wind service projects across the UK and Ireland. The Opportunity
As a Project Finance Controller, you'll play a pivotal role in the commercial execution and financial control of renewable energy service projects. Working closely with Commercial Project Managers and operational stakeholders, you'll provide financial transparency, drive effective cost management, and ensure robust project governance throughout the project lifecycle.
This is a hands-on role where accuracy, prioritisation, and attention to detail are essential. You'll manage multiple workstreams simultaneously while supporting key commercial and financial activities that contribute directly to business performance.
Key Responsibilities
Manage the full project lifecycle within SAP, from order booking through to project closure
Deliver accurate forecasting, budgeting, and monthly variance analysis across projects and cost centres
Provide financial insight and recommendations to operational teams on cost management and recovery opportunities
Prepare invoices, manage customer billing activities, and proactively support cash collection
Monitor accounts receivable and work with internal and external stakeholders to resolve billing and payment issues
Support Commercial Project Managers with financial reporting, analysis, and performance tracking
Manage commercial activities including internal recharges and personnel hire-out processes
Ensure all commercial processes and documentation comply with company policies and governance requirements
Support internal and external audits through accurate record-keeping and documentation
Identify financial risks and opportunities while driving continuous process improvements
About You
We're looking for an ambitious and proactive finance professional who enjoys working in a dynamic project-based environment.
Essential Experience & Qualifications
Part-qualified or qualified CIMA, ACCA, ACA, or equivalent professional qualification
2-5 years' experience in:
Project finance
Commercial controlling
Financial analysis
Project accounting
Experience within industrial, engineering, energy, manufacturing, or project-driven environments is highly advantageous
Strong understanding of:
Project/order accounting
Revenue recognition
IFRS fundamentals
Advanced Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
SAP experience is highly desirable
Personal Attributes
Strong commercial awareness with excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
Confident communicator with the ability to influence and build relationships across multiple stakeholder groups
Organised and able to manage competing priorities effectively
Results-oriented with a continuous improvement mindset
Self-motivated, collaborative, and eager to develop professionally
Passionate about digitalisation and using technology to improve processes
Fluent English communication skills, both written and verbal
Willingness to travel occasionally as required
