How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Overview:
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Senior Environmental Advisor to join a leading UK infrastructure contractor delivering one of the UK's most significant low-carbon energy projects. As a Senior Environmental Advisor, you will play a key role in the delivery of a nationally significant Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) scheme, helping construct new CO₂ pipeline infrastructure that will transport captured carbon emissions from major industrial facilities for permanent offshore storage, supporting the UK's Net Zero ambitions.
Working within a collaborative project team, the Senior Environmental Advisor will provide environmental leadership throughout the construction phase, ensuring compliance with environmental legislation, planning commitments and client standards while supporting the safe and sustainable delivery of complex civil engineering and pipeline works. This is an excellent opportunity for a Senior Environmental Advisor looking to work on a flagship infrastructure programme that is shaping the future of carbon capture in the UK.
    Key Responsibilities:
    * Support environmental compliance across a major Carbon Capture infrastructure project.
    * Develop, implement and maintain Construction Environmental Management Plans (CEMPs) and associated environmental documentation.
    * Ensure compliance with planning conditions, environmental permits, licences and contractual obligations.
    * Carry out environmental inspections, audits and monitoring, identifying improvements and promoting best practice.
    * Advise site management teams on environmental legislation, pollution prevention and sustainable construction methods.
    * Coordinate environmental surveys, groundwater and surface water monitoring programmes, ecological protection measures and specialist investigations.
    * Manage environmental incidents, ensuring appropriate reporting, investigation and implementation of corrective actions.
    * Liaise with regulators, local authorities, environmental consultants and client representatives.
    * Prepare environmental reports, permit applications, risk assessments and technical documentation.
    * Support Environmental Impact Assessment commitments and mentor junior environmental professionals while promoting continuous improvement.
    Qualifications:
    * Previous experience as a Senior Environmental Advisor, Environmental Advisor or Environmental Manager within civil engineering, utilities, pipeline, energy or major infrastructure projects.
    * Degree qualified in Environmental Science, Environmental Management, Geography or a related discipline.
    * Working towards or already holding Chartered status with IEMA, CIWEM, CEnv or an equivalent professional body.
    * Strong knowledge of UK environmental legislation, permitting requirements and Construction Environmental Management Plans.
    * Experience of groundwater, surface water and wider environmental management practices within construction.
    * Excellent communication, report writing and stakeholder management skills.
    * Full UK driving licence.
    Benefits:
    * Competitive salary with annual reviews, annual bonus and company car or car allowance.
    * Private healthcare, enhanced pension, life assurance and family-friendly benefits.
    * Generous annual leave plus bank holidays and flexible/hybrid working.
    * Ongoing professional development, Chartership support and clear career progression.
    * Opportunity to work on one of the UK's flagship Net Zero infrastructure projects, helping deliver the country's first large-scale carbon capture network.
If you're an experienced Senior Environmental Advisor looking to make a genuine impact on a nationally significant infrastructure project, we'd love to hear from you
