How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

From September 2026, our secondary provisions in Blackpool are looking for a dedicated Behaviour Mentor & Pastoral Support Worker to act as the vital bridge between academic achievement and a student's emotional well-being.

You do not need formal teaching qualifications for this role.

    The Role & Impact

Operating inside a collaborative pastoral hub, you will work directly with young people facing complex social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) challenges or attendance barriers.

Targeted Behaviour Mentoring: Run structured 1:1 or small-group mentoring sessions to build emotional regulation, confidence, and resilience.

Crisis De-escalation: Respond safely and proactively to behavioural incidents, using trauma-informed approaches to help students calm down and successfully reintegrate into learning.

In-Classroom Re-engagement: Support pupils directly within standard lessons to keep them focused, tracking their success alongside the school's SENCo and Year Heads.

Family Liaison: Work with parents, care structures, and external agencies to ensure a supportive, unified approach to the child's welfare.

Who Makes an Exceptional Pastoral Professional?

This role requires a unique balance of a thick skin and a big heart. We strongly welcome applications from individuals with transferable backgrounds, including:

Youth Work / Youth Justice: Experience navigating community challenges or mentoring disengaged youth.

Sports Coaching / Outdoor Instruction: Individuals with an excellent physical presence who naturally establish clear boundaries through positive group dynamics.

Ex-Military / Service Personnel: Leaders who excel in high-pressure environments and model stability and routine.

Psychology / Criminology Graduates: High-potential graduates looking to gain critical field experience before pursuing educational psychology or specialised SEND careers.

    What We Look For

Practical experience managing challenging behaviours in youth, care, or community coaching settings.

A strong baseline understanding of (or a deep desire to learn) trauma-informed practice, ADHD, ASC, and adolescent mental health..

An Enhanced DBS check on the Update Service (or readiness to process a new one immediately).

    What's in It for You?

Funded Professional Development: Complete fully certified training pathways including Team Teach (positive de-escalation methods), Safeguarding Level 2, and Mental Health First Aid.

A Team that Has Your Back: Regular clinical debriefs, shared resources, and a highly supportive staff room environment.

    How to Apply

Please submit an up-to-date CV highlighting your relevant mentoring or behavioural support experience
