How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Residential Support Worker – Children & Young People

    Location: Brent
    Salary: Competitive hourly rate (depending on experience)
    Hours: Flexible shift patterns including evenings, weekends, sleep-ins and waking nights

    About the Role

    We are currently recruiting experienced Residential Support Workers to support children and young people within a safe, caring and nurturing residential environment.

    The successful candidate will play a key role in providing high-quality care and support to young people, helping them develop independence, confidence and life skills while ensuring their emotional, physical and social wellbeing is promoted.

    You will work as part of a dedicated team supporting children and young people who may have experienced trauma, family difficulties, or require additional support due to their individual needs.

    The role involves providing a consistent, structured and positive environment where young people feel valued, respected and supported.

    Key Responsibilities

    *

    Provide high-quality, person-centred care and support to children and young people living in residential care.

    *

    Promote a safe, secure and nurturing home environment where young people feel respected and listened to.

    *

    Support young people with daily living skills, including cooking, education, personal development and independence skills.

    *

    Build positive and trusting relationships with young people through consistent and empathetic support.

    *

    Support young people with recreational activities, community engagement and social development.

    *

    Promote emotional wellbeing and help young people achieve their individual goals and outcomes.

    *

    Implement agreed behaviour support strategies and respond appropriately to challenging behaviours.

    *

    Support safeguarding procedures and ensure children’s welfare remains the highest priority.

    *

    Maintain accurate records, reports, incident logs and daily care documentation.

    *

    Work collaboratively with social workers, education professionals, healthcare staff, families and other agencies.

    *

    Support healthcare needs, appointments and any relevant care procedures following appropriate training.

    *

    Participate in team meetings, reviews, training and ongoing professional development.

    About You

    We are looking for compassionate and resilient individuals who have experience supporting vulnerable children and young people.

    You will ideally have:

    *

    Previous experience working with children or young people in a residential, care, education, youth work or support setting.

    *

    Experience supporting children in care or young people with complex needs.

    *

    Ability to build positive relationships and provide consistent emotional support.

    *

    Understanding of safeguarding principles and confidentiality.

    *

    Experience managing challenging behaviour using a calm and professional approach.

    *

    Strong communication, recording and organisational skills.

    *

    Ability to work independently as well as part of a wider care team.

    *

    Flexibility to work shifts including evenings, weekends, sleep-ins and waking nights.

    Desirable Experience / Qualifications

    *

    NVQ Level 3 Diploma in Children and Young People’s Services (or willingness to work towards this).

    *

    Experience within children’s homes, looked-after children services, residential childcare, youth services or specialist support settings.

    *

    Knowledge of Children’s Homes Regulations 2015, safeguarding legislation and Ofsted requirements.

    *

    Full UK driving licence is desirable.
