We are currently recruiting for an HR Adviser to join our client’s site in East Lothian. This is a standalone HR role based at a key operational site offering the opportunity to take the lead on all day-to-day HR activities while being supported by a wider HR team based at another site.
This position is ideal for someone who enjoys building strong relationships across the business, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and is looking for a role with genuine autonomy and responsibility. You'll have the freedom to manage HR matters locally, influence decision-making, and play a key role in supporting both managers and employees across the site.
No two days will be the same. You'll be the trusted HR partner on site, providing practical and commercially focused advice while ensuring best practice and compliance with employment legislation.
The Role
As HR Adviser, you will be responsible for delivering a proactive and responsive HR service across the site, supporting managers with a wide range of employee relations and people management matters.
You will act as the first point of contact for all HR-related issues, helping to create a positive employee experience while ensuring business objectives are achieved.
Key Responsibilities
· Provide day-to-day HR advice and guidance to managers across a broad range of employee relations matters
· Manage a high-volume and varied caseload, including disciplinaries, grievances, absence management, investigations, and performance management issues
· Support managers with coaching and guidance to ensure consistent people management practices
· Act as the primary HR contact for the site, building strong and credible relationships with stakeholders at all levels
· Ensure HR policies, procedures, and processes are applied consistently and remain compliant with current employment legislation
· Support recruitment activities, onboarding, and employee lifecycle processes
· Identify opportunities for process improvements and contribute to wider HR initiatives and projects
· Support employee engagement activities and help foster a positive workplace culture
Skills & Experience
· Previous experience within an HR Adviser, HR Generalist, or similar HR role
· Strong employee relations experience with the ability to manage cases from start to finish
· Sound knowledge of UK employment law and HR best practice
· Experience supporting managers within a fast-paced operational environment
· Highly organised with strong attention to detail
· Resilient, proactive, and solutions-focused approach
· CIPD qualified or working towards qualification is desirable
