How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Quantity Surveyor

    We have an excellent opportunity for a Quantity Surveyor to join a leading tier 1 main contractor based in Basingstoke. The business unit undertakes projects within the public sector, with lots of defence, MOJ and blue light projects across the South of Engalnd. Projects vary in value from smaller works (£50k - £2mil) up to £30mil. Projects are a mix of JCT and NEC forms of contract, and are often directly awarded.

    As a result of a busy upcoming pipeline of work, they're now looking for a Quantity Surveyor to join the team.

    About the role of Quantity Surveyor:

    As Quantity Surveyor, you will be responsible for managing projects from pre-construction through to final account, reporting into the Commercial Manager.

    Key Responsibilities as Quantity Surveyor:

    Be involved in 2-stage tenders
    Sub-contract procurement
    Manage sub-contractors accounts on site, dealing with variations
    Deal with final accounts

    Key requirements for this Quantity Surveyor role:

    Construction related HNC / Degree
    Experience working within a main contractor
    Experience administering JCT forms of contract
    Must live within a commutable distance to Basingstoke Please note, this role requires the successful candidate to be a British national due to the nature of the workload and necessary clearance.
